Cerebral Palsy

Acquired Brain Injury or Traumatic Brain Injury.

The effects of a brain injury can vary widely depending on the type, severity, and location of the injury. Symptoms can include:

Changes in consciousness, memory problems, confusion, fatigue, and mood disturbances such as depression, anxiety or irritability. Deeper neurological signs such as seizures or visual field problems.

An acquired brain injury is brain damage that occurs after birth and is not a genetic or congenital disorder. ABI's can be caused by accidents, stroke, infections, lack of oxygen, brain tumors, or a blow to the head to name just a few.

A TBI is a type of ABI that occurs when the brain is damaged by an external force to the head, such as a fall or a car accident.

A non-traumatic brain injury, NTBI, occurs when the brain is damaged by an internal factor, such as a stroke, lack of oxygen, or exposure to toxins.
